A tinder story success! Boy and girl each swipe right, chat for a bit, and decide to meet up for drinks. Juice did try looking up how to pronounce “Adge” in Portuguese prior to their date, but couldn’t figure it out (because it’s not a Portuguese nickname) so resorted to not saying his name at all until he said it first. In true Portland fashion they went to a (literal) underground bar, where one of them may or may not have had a little too much to drink and was very happy the other wanted to go on a second date. Their relationship grew through soccer games, camping/crabbing trips, and terrible puns and dad jokes. The last one is all Juice and Adge mostly just laughs at them so she doesn’t feel like an idiot.
When Adge decided he wanted to pop the question to Juice, he knew he wanted to do it an artistic way. After much thought, he decided on creating an animation. Once they decided to take a trip to Portugal, Adge came up with a cheesy animation that would incorporate the trip as well as their love of soccer. After many grueling hours and many days, the animation was done. While enjoying their sunny vacation in beautiful Portugal, Adge waited patiently for a beautiful sunset scene that never came. Eventually on a warm evening in Lagos they sat down near a beachside fountain and Adge offered to show Juice the animation. After the initial screening Juice was confused as it was Adge’s first animation and not great by any means (Juice thought it was fantastic and loved it, just didn’t understand what was happening). When the video ended, Juice said “That’s so good!” But nothing else. After a long beat Adge said “So… do you want to?” Juice watched the video again and realized what was happening and what Adge was asking. She said of course and we laughed off the entire awkward proposal.
