We highly recommend if you have a few extra days, to fly to Cusco to visit one of the seven wonders of the world, Machu Picchu. Round trip flights from Lima are around $100 and take just over an hour. You can choose to visit via trek or via bus. We recommend purchasing tickets well in advance. Please visit the website below to view information about the various different ways to reach Machu Picchu.
If you have an extra day or two, Paracas is an easy day trip away from Lima (4 hours via road). Here, you can see sea lions and penguins on the Ballestas Islands, drive a dune buggy or go sand surfing in the desert, visit the beautiful dessert/ocean combo of Paracas National Reserve, or trek the "Golden Shadows." With longer time you can even fly over the mysterious Nazca Lines or drive a dune buggy or sand board in the desert oasis of Huacachina. See the link below for more details.
