Port Louis is the lively capital city of Mauritius. It's known for its French colonial architecture and the 19th-century Champ de Mars horse-racing track. The Caudan Waterfront is an exciting dining and shopping precinct. Nearby, vendors sell local produce and handicrafts at the large Central Market. In the area, you can also find a number of museums such as the Natural History Museum which features an exhibit on the distinct Dodo bird. Mauritius' Chinatown neighborhood can also be found a few steps from the central market! You can find all-day parking spots easily at the Caudal Waterfront. The Bois Cheri Plantation has been producing tea in southern Mauritius since 1892. Spread out over around 617 acres (250 hectares), the plantation comprises fields, a production facility, and a museum where visitors can learn about tea from the source. The best way to experience Bois Cheri is on a guided tour of the tea factory and museum. You'll learn about the lifecycle of tea, from plant to cup, and sample some for yourself!
One of the most iconic attractions in Mauritius that reveals 600 million years of history. This 8.5-hectare park is a must-see place to discover the wonderful island. Combining geology, education and conservation, you will experience a moment in communion with nature and learn a little more about the Mauritian land. The Land of 7 Colours at Chamarel offers a unique experience not only for geology and nature lovers, but also for those who want to better understand this rare geological phenomenon. On site, you can admire the Seven Colors of the Earth, but also the spectacular Chamarel waterfall, the majestic giant turtles, the shop with local products, or the restaurant which serves snacks and refreshments all day long. Parking is also available on site!
Imagine a place where pleasure meets practical: a place to indulge in one’s favorite workout, relax in a trendy coffee shop or enjoy a lunch break, meet with friends to view the latest movie, do your groceries or go ‘treasure hunting’ in one of the several outlets of the shopping mall.
With 720 miles of spectacular coastline, Mauritius makes it easy to find the perfect beach – whether you’re looking to kick back, get active or even party! Our personal favorite was Pereybere Public Beach as it was easy to access and had restaurants and food trucks nearby! There are also many different island hopping, sailboating, and water sporting tours in Mauritius. Though more tour information can be found online, we recommend booking with a personal guide once in Mauritius, for better prices.
