Flight

Getting to Santa Barbara from The East Coast

From the East Coast: The easiest option is to fly directly into Santa Barbara Airport (SBA) — just 15 minutes from downtown. Many major airlines offer one-stop flights via hubs like Dallas, Denver, or Phoenix. Alternative Airports: Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) (about 2 hours south) and Burbank Airport (BUR) (about 1.5 hours south) also offer more flight options.

Travel Note

Getting to Santa Barbara from Los Angeles

Santa Barbara is about 95 miles north of Los Angeles, and there are several easy ways to get here: BY CAR Driving from Los Angeles typically takes 2–2.5 hours, depending on traffic. Take US-101 North along the coast for beautiful ocean views most of the way. BY SHUTTLE The Santa Barbara Airbus offers comfortable daily service between LAX and Santa Barbara. Shuttles run frequently, and reservations are recommended. Visit sbairbus.com for schedules and fares. BY TRAIN The Amtrak Pacific Surfliner runs from Los Angeles’ Union Station to Santa Barbara, hugging the coastline for much of the ride. It’s a scenic and relaxing option, with travel times around 2.5 hours. Visit amtrak.com for schedules and tickets GETTING AROUND SANTA BARBARA Santa Barbara is very walkable! Rideshares (Uber/Lyft) are easy, and many hotels provide bikes. If you plan to explore wine country or nearby towns, renting a car is a great idea.
