Agriturismo San Galgano

Agriturismo San Galgano has a capacity of approximately 50 guests. We will have more details on room reservations once we send out the formal wedding invitations and have an understanding of the number of nights each guest plans to stay. We have the Agriturismo reserved for (3) nights Tuesday to Friday. There will be other Agriturismo 's down the road that will provide lodging for the remaining guests. This lodging is still being determined but will be provided when formal invitations are sent out.

Rental Car Info

Renting a car to drive to Agriturismo San Galgano or the other Agriturismo 's will be essential to get there comfortably. The only other option would be to take several different buses and it would still require you to walk about a half mile from the bus stop to the Agriturismo. To drive in Italy, you will need a valid driver's license and an International Driving Permit. It really is hit or miss on whether the car rental will allow you to rent a vehicle without a permit so to be on the safe side you should obtain this from AAA before you leave. The car rental options are located at either Florence or Rome airports. Be sure to book over a month in advance to guarantee availability and check whether you are reserving automatic v. manual to ensure you can drive the vehicle you reserve :)

Driving Tips

Driving from Rome will take about 3 hours and take you along the coast line. However, for the most picturesque route, extend your trip by approx. 1 hour and pass through the beautiful vineyards of Montepulciano and explore Val d'Orcia, a UNESCO World Heritage Site! Driving from Florence will be a shorter drive, about 1.5 hours, you can still visit Montepulciano and Val d'Orcia on your way, but it will extend your trip by about 1.5 hours. A better option may be passing through and exploring the beautiful town of Siena which is right on your way to Agriturismo San Galgano! Something to look out for when driving around Italy are ZTL's (Zona a Traffico Limitato) which are restricted traffic zones in Italian city centers designed to reduce congestion and protect historic areas. Only authorized vehicles such as residents and taxis can enter. These areas are clearly marked with a "ZTL" sign. It will be red when the zone is restricted and green if the zone is not restricted to enter. You will be fined if you enter the zone when it is red and restricted, so please be careful when driving in the historic cities in Italy.
