Things To Do

We highly suggest taking extra time to explore. We hope everyone can take at least one day to check out what Big Sur has to offer. Simply drive the coastline and pull over for amazing views and/or a few of the short but very worth it hikes to beautiful beaches and waterfalls. See below link for an overview places to go along the coastline! https://bigsurkate.blog/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/big-sur-coast-map-north.pdf *If you are looking to stay longer or get a campsite please ask and we will suggest the best options. Like we mentioned, Big Sur is filled with magic! See below our favorite places to explore, relax, and eat!
Salmon Creek Falls

Salmon Creek Falls

California 1, Big Sur, CA 93920

Highly Recommended. A quick and easy trail (5 min) down to a waterfall! Located on the south end of Highway 1.

Limekiln State Park

Limekiln State Park

63025 California 1, Big Sur, CA 93920
, (805) 434-1996

This is our favorite campground and trail on the south end of Highway 1. The most gorgeous (easy) hike with miles of redwoods and flowing creeks that lead to a beautiful water fall. Day use Parking fee. A great stop on your way in or out of Big Sur (40 minute drive from the main part of Big Sur)

Bixby Creek Bridge

Bixby Creek Bridge

California 1, Monterey, CA 93940

The legendary Bixby Bridge! The view from here is unreal! Definitely a must see! You will pass this coming from the North but is definitely worth the 15 minute drive from main Big Sur.

Pfeiffer Beach

Pfeiffer Beach

9100 Sycamore Canyon Rd, Big Sur, CA, CA 93920

Epic Beach! Massive rock formation in the water where the waves crash through a huge hole and spit out the other side. PRO TIP: Go at sunset. Just south of Big Sur Station on Hwy 1. The "unsigned" Sycamore Caynon road is a sharp right from main Big Sur and it can be easy to miss. The Google Maps coordinates are: (36.2401424, -121.7770690). Again NO SERVICE so screen shot the map on your phone. Fee for parking. Definitely gets very windy, so bring a jacket!

Sand Dollar Beach

Sand Dollar Beach

69232 Cabrillo Hwy Big Sur, CA 93920, CA 93920

Perfect spot for a relaxing beach day. Huge sandy beach and the waves here definitely get good, so check the swell brah and bring your surfboard.

Plaskett Creek Campground

Plaskett Creek Campground

69345 California 1, Big Sur, CA 93920
, (805) 434-1996

Plaskett Creek is one of the most popular destinations for traveling surfers in Big Sur, due to its nearness to the surf at Sand Dollar Beach. Great camping area as well.

Big Sur Deli + Brewery

47520 California 1, Big Sur, CA 93920
, (831) 667-2225

The best sandwiches ever to grab and go for a hike or beach day! And beer. Duh!

Big Sur River Inn

46800 California 1, Big Sur, CA 93920
, (831) 667-2700

Located in the back on the hotel's convenience store, you will find the best breakfast or custom burrito! Grab one with a beer to go and sit down by the river. There is never a time we don't do this when we visit!

Esalen Institute Hot Springs

Esalen Institute Hot Springs

55000 California 1, Big Sur, CA 93920
, (888) 837-2536

This place is insane. You can book a spot to enjoy these hot spring in the middle of the night at this breathtaking institute. You must book the morning of and online so make sure you know where to get service or have wifi. Highly recommend!

For all the days along the way
