Local Eating

Note: This excellent list was put together by my wonderful future in-law Isa Freeling. Since she is a frequently-published arts and culture writer, it would be a crime not to share her thoughts on various local eateries in full!

Cucina

Woodstock

Lovely Italian restaurant with an inviting country vibe. Was at one point one of the front-runners for the rehearsal dinner. It has delicious Italian egg drop soup. http://www.cucinawoodstock.com/

Garvan's Gastropub

New Paltz

Great short ribs and other yummy fare. Enjoyed it! https://www.garvans.com/

Good Night

Woodstock

Great! Asian fusion in a glamorous setting; look out for the peachy green marble tables. Sparkly vibe with happy people. Great cocktails for drinkers and non-drinkers. Delish! https://www.goodnightwoodstock.com/

Hutton Brickyards

Kingston

Great view!! Right on the beautiful Hudson River! Fun food. Brunch pizzas alone are worth going for. https://www.huttonbrickyards.com/

INNESS

Accord

A lovely resort. Don't eat here, but do go for a drink. Gorgeous views. https://inness.co/?gad

Miss Lucy's Kitchen

Saugerties

Great fried chicken and warm, delicious homemade bread. Lovely cocktails. Loud but down-home goodness. https://www.misslucyskitchen.com/

Oriole 9

Woodstock

Great brunch spot. Very good baristas, Jessie loves their chai latte. https://www.oriole9.com/

Pretty To Think So

Rhinebeck

It's a small place with delicious food, great original cocktails, fantastic squash bread with miso butter, and an eclectic crowd. Old, stodgy professors from Bard and young and not-so-young women showing off their underwear in slinky dresses that don't fit well. The food is good enough so you don't have to watch. Read the menu before making a reservation, it's not to everyone's taste! https://www.prettytothink.so/

Red Onion

Saugerties

Continental with reliable, good food. Comfortable and warm environment, with a fresh old-world feeling. Glowy low lights. Think lamb, steak and Caesar salad. https://www.redonionrestaurant.com/

Shandaken Inn

Shandaken

Varied offerings throughout the week. Take a chance! https://www.shandakeninn.com/the-clubhouse-restaurant-bar/

Shelter

Woodstock

Barbecue, festive. It is the kind of place where you could meet someone fun while waiting in line for the bathroom. Which you will be. https://www.shelterwoodstock.com/

Silvia

Woodstock

Haute couture upstate fare! Very coveted, but who cares? Be prepared, it is expensive. https://www.silviawoodstockny.com/

Wildflower Farms

Gardiner

This is a beautiful place. The restaurant is a beautiful, well-styled spot, which you might find in your inflight magazine on your way to New York. The food is good but overrated. There is a great outdoor space to sip a cocktail by the fire and have a burger. It's a luscious green spot. Their gift shop is easy not to spend money in as they sell about three things. https://aubergeresorts.com/wildflower-farms/?utm_source=gmb&utm_medium=Yext
