It is 94 miles, meaning an approximate 90 - 120 minute trip by car depending on traffic. More often than not, that will come out closer to the two hour mark due to traffic getting out of the city. Please plan accordingly!
We very strongly recommend it. While there are some train and bus options that can get you to the general area, local public transport is almost non-existent. Likewise, rideshare apps like Uber or Lyft don't really function up there. Unless you are prepared to call a lot of taxis, we recommend that you come with a ride of your own.
Yes! There is a complimentary valet parking service on-site. All you have to do is show up and Crested Hen will take care of the rest.
Since our wedding is in late summer, the weather will be temperate. The ceremony itself will be in an outdoor space, weather permitting, so come prepared for a little sun before we move the party to the barn! The barn itself is climate controlled, but be sure to bring an outer layer for the outdoors as the sun goes down.
Yes! We encourage full families to show up and celebrate with us. All we ask is that parents have a contingency plan in place for small children and babies getting fussy, especially during the ceremony. Make sure to include complete family numbers in your RSVP so we can factor that into our final catering order.
Every invitation comes with a +1 as a matter of course, and those with families are free to bring them. If you want to bring any additional guests, you may reach out to us and ask. As refreshments and space are not unlimited, we ask for your understanding if we are not able to accommodate your request.
Unfortunately, no. For reasons of liability and atmosphere, we are unable to host pets at this event.
Yes, but a very nice one! The ceremony will be outdoors, and the reception will be in the climate-controlled barn with an adjoining covered outdoor bar area, surrounded by beautiful well-kept grounds.
While Crested Hen is a full-time event venue, they do boast an admirable collection of several species of hens! (The chooks will not be part of the ceremony, and just happen to live nearby. There is no live animal overlap, so no need to worry about mud on your shoes or your clothes being pecked.)
Yes, absolutely! A member of staff can guide you to the hen's roosting area. We ask only that you be respectful of the chickens, and supervise small children who want to take a look. No chicken chasing!
