finally, let's celebrate!

After what will be almost 7 years together, and nearly 3 engaged, we are finally married! This past June we took the kids and our parents and said our vows in our very favorite place. The Rocky Mountains were the perfect backdrop to the official start of this new adventure and family. The pandemic has made us nervous more than a few times and we are so optimistically ready to welcome all of you with hugs and hospitality. We recognize it's a big ask to have you travel (possibly for the first time in years) and gather in large groups with us. We would be so honored to have your presence and support in October and fully understand if it just doesn't work after the year and a half we've all had. We love you and hope to see you soon!

We will plan to have activities, meals and gatherings for out of towners beginning the night of Wednesday, October 20. It is our goal and hope to spend as much time as possible with each of you! Short: a friend set us up (thanks Leslie!) Long: Leslie offered to set us up but Chap wasn't a fan of friends setting up dates so he declined. A few weeks later, scrolling on Tinder one night, a familiar face popped up on Sprenk's screen. It was the same picture Leslie had sent her of Chap for the setup. She swiped right.

Short story: Sprenk proposed at midnight Tulsa time New Years Eve in Sydney. Long Story: Since Chap had proposed before, we decided it would be fun + different if Sprenk was in charge(she prefers it that way anyway). Chap asked the kids first and after their blessing gave Sprenk the OK for planning the proposal - the only rule was she couldn't kneel and Chap would do the asking at the end. The perfect opportunity presented itself as the Sprenkels planned a big New Zealand adventure. Before leaving, Sprenk got each of the kids to record a love note video for Chap. She planned to play these throughout the day on New Year's Eve, mixed up with "welcome to the family" messages from each of her family members. She was sure that after playing the first message (in birth order) that he would be suspicious. He was not. Then she was sure after her dad's sweet speech at breakfast, he would be on to something. He was not. And so we slowly worked through all the messages in between various adventures that day - most notably the Sydney Bridge Climb. After the bridge climb, we had a lunch where Chap proceeded (with help from Davi) to get a little over-served. We blame it on the heat of the climb, not noticing the alcohol content of the cider and Davi wanting to meet Chatty Chapuis. This did not bode well for the afternoon proposal plan. We had to take a detour to the hotel for a drunk nap and snack before Sprenk left for a run with Shelby. The plan was for Chap to meet us in the Sydney Botanical Gardens in an hour. Well, Chap is always late and there was no service. The rest of us spent a good deal of time hiding out in bushes and walking up and down the trail looking for him. Once we found him, Shelby left and we proceeded to walk to the best view where Kailyn's video was played and she said "Now get down on one knee dad!" and he still didn't get it. So Sprenk fumbled through some lovey dovey speech until Chap said "Are you proposing to me?!" The rest is a blur
