Grab tacos at our favorite spot in Highwood, the little town where we met and fell in love. Ice cream is still great in winter over at Billy Bricks, where we shared our first date over a waffle cone of Mint Chip. Jessica’s Order: 3-4 Arrachera tacos with fresh avocado Andrew’s Order: Volcan Taco, Plancha Fish and of course Arrachera with onion and cilantro
A lavish spread of upper crust bagels, lox and accoutrements fill the Rosenberg table every Sunday. A real deal NY deli and a staple in our household.
Don’t waste your time at the typical tourist trap of Navy Pier and head down south to Swap O Rama to get a taste of Chicago’s immigrant culture. After grabbing some croc charms, food tour through Pilsen or China Town and make a colorful stop at the National Museum of Mexican Art.
One of the top things to do in Chicago, and it runs in winter! Learn the history of our city’s most famous Architectural Marvels and enjoy a day on the river. They say the river is only green on St Patrick’s day, but it’s still a little green year round.
Across from the hotel is Jessica and Andrew’s favorite burger spot in town. Perfectly divey with a draft rootbeer. They do not take reservations but the line for a table moves quick.
Our 3rd date spot and in the backyard of our Wedding Venue. Enjoy a winter walk along the river and some bird spotting. There are no dogs allowed unfortunately. The Captain Daniel Wright Woods is also a fantastic place for a walk and does allow dogs. Here you can access the Desplains River Trail which spans over 31 miles from Wisconsin to near Chicago. The later allows cross country skiing in winter if conditions allow.
