We're getting married!

Duncan and Jessica first met on a blind date many years ago. She was home visiting her grandmother while Duncan just coached the final game of the season at Campbell University. The day before Thanksgiving the two went out to eat in Florence, SC. Later that evening they joined their friends for a fun night of dancing at the Kintyre House, which was the big thing to do at the time. The following day the two went their separate ways, but Duncan knew in his heart something was special about her. A few months later he landed his current job at Shaw Industries, which is based out of Dalton, GA. As you would expect, every time he traveled there, he would stop in Atlanta to see her. They would go to Braves games or hike up Sawnee Mountain. Likewise, every time Jessica was back in their hometown, he would take her fishing at Beaver Dam and to Kings Pizza to eat super subs, per her request. They remained close friends and spent time together when they could. It was not until Jessica was across the country attending NAU that she realized she wanted something more between them. After graduating the academy, she moved to Rowland, NC to look after her grandmother. Every week Duncan would drive two hours so they could go to church, walk country roads, and catch up on lost time. Ultimately, this is when she fell in love and Duncan did not hesitate. After 8 months of being official, with his grandmother’s ring, he got down on one knee and asked for her hand in marriage. After all, he knew she was the one from the start. A true “friends to lovers” story…that all began with a small-town tradition.
