House Or Rental

Holiday Cottages, Dillington Estate

Friends: You as well as the bride and groom will be staying at the Dairy House located on the estate property. This location also serves as the location for the wedding. The estate features 3 other holiday cottages available for renting that sleep anywhere between 8 and 14 people as well as individual rooms if you would like to have more private accommodations. We have already assigned rooms for the guests, please privately message us for those details as well as any questions or concerns. Couples will receive priority on individual rooms and rooms with bathrooms attached. All other estate information including options for those not staying at the dairy house can be found through the following websites: https://dillington.com/ and https://www.dillingtonestate.co.uk/holiday-cottages/the-dairy-house/

Travel Note

Passport Information

In order to fly to England, you will need to apply and receive a passport. If you do not currently have one, we suggest you apply for one no later than January 1, 2022 as the process for approval and receiving the passport can take a few months.

Travel Note

*Important Notice*

Each guest will be responsible for their own arrival to the estate. This includes flights, cabs, trains, etc. Traveling to a new country can be scary and confusing so we are attempting to make this process as easy as possible. Our first suggestion is that you reach out to another guest to be your “travel buddy” we intentionally arranged the guest list so that there was no guest coming alone to the wedding. Our second suggestion is that you complete a lot of individual research about what it is like to travel to England. Commuting in Europe is not at all similar to the way we commute in the US. With the increased amount of public transportation, driving is not as necessary as it is here in the states. Because of this you may find getting to the estate to be a lot more work than you are used to. We have included some helpful information to get you started with understanding how to commute in England like a pro.

Flight

Basic Information- Flights

The estate is 3 hours outside of London, England and is in the middle of the English countryside meaning that it does not have the typical amenities that you would see in an international tourist destination. The closest airports are Heathrow (3 hours away) and Bristol (45 minutes away). Heathrow is going to be the most budget friendly flying option. However, it leaves you with a 3 hour commute to the estate. There are multiple options for getting to the estate after you get off the plane.

Rental Car

Basic Information- Rental Cars and Cabs

As many of you may know, Americans actually drive on the wrong side of the road in comparison to most countries. This means that you will be driving opposite from how you drive here in the US. For you brave souls that are willing to make this trek, rental cars are available at airports and through private companies. We suggest however, that you schedule your rental vehicle pick up in advance as you will need to request an automatic transmission as the common vehicle in England has a manual transmission. You also have to option of taking a cab. This may be your priciest option; however it will be the option that will get you to the estate the quickest with little effort on your part. The minute you get into England, cabs can be found at any corner! And of course, there is always uber.

Train

Basic Information- Trains and Tubes

We recommend calling up the airport you are flying into to determine what train leaves out of the airport and which ones will get you closest to the estate. Be mindful that you may need to hop from a train to a taxi. In addition to a train you also have the option of taking the tube! Being an interconnected route of underground railways, the tube is the most popular mode of transportation but can also be the biggest pain in the neck. It will require hopping from multiple stations and can take longer, but it is the best way to experience the life of the UK commuter.

COVID and VACCINATIONS

While we hoped covid would be ending by the time we sent out invitations, peoples ignorance have left us in a sticky situation. Right now, vaccinations are required to go to England if you don't want to quarantine for up to 14 days. We suggest you get vaccinated. We do not care about your personal opinions on the matter, if you don't want to follow the guidelines that is a personal problem that we are not going to stress about.
