Travel Note
There is no direct flight to Sardinia which makes for what we believe a better opportunity to see something you may never have had experienced. When searching for flights you will have a layover we always choose to have a layover that is over night so we can see another place while headed to and back from our destinations. Layover options are endless Berlin, Barcelona, Napoli, Zurich, Madrid, London, Milan. Napoli is one of the shortest flights to get to Sardinia with the flight being a little less than 40 minutes. When looking for a flight to Sardinia the airport to land in is Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport OLB is the airport code. Next step is getting to La Maddalena.
Travel Note
Leaving the Costa Smeralda airport you will then go on a 30 minute drive to Palau. The island is reachable by a 15 minute ferry ride from Palau. Palau is on the northern tip of the Sardinia mainland. Palau is also part of Costa Smeralda where you will be landing. Ferrys run almost 20 hours out of the day to and from La Maddalena, and Palau. The cost of a car and two people round-trip comes to around 35 euros. La Maddalena is a beautiful island with so many beaches to discover! Adjacent to La Maddalena is Caprera which is a uninhabited island that has some very exotic beaches. The option of staying on Sardinia mainland is yours as well. Costa Smeralda is a hot spot for luxury travelers Porto Cervo, Porto Rotondo, and Cala Di Volpe are more lavish areas as is Costa Smeralda in general. Palau, San Teodoro, and Golfo Aranci are some more reasonable options if you want to stay on mainland. We highly encourage staying on La Maddalena it is alot more affordable and equally beautiful.
Travel Note
Driving in Sardinia is necessary. There is no way to sugar coat it. Driving in Sardinia is also a adventure to be had. You will be driving along cliffs with the bluest water you have ever seen, and yes they drive on the right side of the road. We fully encourage Only Sardinia Car Rental because their cars are always the newest models possible and they are extremely accommodating in payment options. Once a official count is given to us and we get a understanding of everyone's choice of accommodations we will provide a shuttle to and from the wedding that is convenient for all.

Breakfast is included with this hotel! It is on the water and also has ample parking, a grocery store right behind it, and a pool.

We haven't stayed here but the hotel is great. The location is a bit farther from the center of La Maddalena compared to Hotel Miralonga. This hotel has its own beach!
Travel Note
We are avid users of Booking.com and encourage you to try it. On Booking.com the website offers hotels, villas, cottages, and B&B's. The reason we like it besides the endless amount of lodging options, is because we can reserve something without paying for it and if we change our minds and see something else we can cancel our reservation free of charge. This all depends on the place's regulations but we have found it to be very flexible.
