Our Story

Our story begins long before we officially met.

Scott grew up in the quiet town of Dundas, while Jess spent her childhood moving between Dundas, Burlington, and even spent a year in Barrie. Though their paths crossed more than once, fate was patiently waiting for just the right moment. Scott fondly remembers those early days, when they were both part of a little soccer league in Dundas. He still laughs about a girl with a bowl haircut instead of chasing the soccer ball, she was too busy picking dandelions. Fast forward to when Jess was sixteen: her family was living in Burlington for a year, but she continued attending Parkside High School in Dundas. She recalls one afternoon when her mom picked her and her sister, Amanda, up from school and they ran errands around town. Driving up Governor’s Road, Jess sat in the back seat, listening to her iPod and chatting with Amanda. As they passed a runner, Amanda pointed out a redhead and commented with a smile that he was really cute. Jess leaned out of the window, and Scott recalls a girl with brown hair, wearing aviator sunglasses and a green top. Years later, when Jess was in her first year at Mohawk College and Scott was finishing his final year, their paths crossed again. One day at the gym, Jess noticed a handsome redhead doing pull-ups with a friend — a moment that stuck in her mind. The next year, during Jess’s second year of college, she often rode the bus downtown to Hamilton for her classes. One day, she spotted that same redhead again just as he was getting off the bus. Scott smiled at her, and to this day, he still remembers the red lipstick she was wearing. A month later, fate gave them one more nudge. After a late class, Jessica decided to leave early. She caught the bus downtown and walked toward the shelter at Jackson Square, headphones in, lost in her music. As she was jamming out to one of her favourite songs, Make That Move by Shalamar, she looked up — and there he was again. It felt like the song was speaking directly to her. So Jess made the move. She turned around and introduced herself to Scott. They stood there and talked for a while, and Jess mentioned the bus she usually caught. The very next morning, Scott made sure he was up early to catch the 6 a.m. bus in Dundas, just to see her again. When Jess got on, he called her over and asked for her number. And from that moment on, the rest became their story. Together since November 2014, married on July 17th, 2021 — and still, every day, making everlasting memories. ❤️
