We Are Getting Married!

On October 25, 2021, Ruben proposed to Jess in Austin. They were celebrating their five-year anniversary during a trip to Dallas, College Station, and Austin. They first went to a Mexican tapas restaurant for dinner. After sunset, they were walking along the Colorado River and enjoying the view when Ruben got down on one knee and asked Jess to marry him. Of course, Jess said yes.

Jess is from Singapore and Ruben is from Belgium. They met in Shenendehowa High School when they were 14 years old. They went to the same college, Stony Brook University, where Jess double majored in Economics and Sociology while Ruben majored in Biochemistry. They graduated from college three years later in 2020. After college, Ruben started his M.D./Ph.D. candidacy at Yale School of Medicine. Jess has just received her Doctor of Jurisprudence from UConn Law and will be starting her career as an associate attorney at the law firm that represented Johnny Depp. Jess's biggest hobby is dancing and has been a ballet dancer for 20 years. She dances with New Haven City Ballet during the weekends. During Ruben's free time, he enjoys biking, skiing, and playing soccer.
