Summer on the Cape! As Thoreau said " A man may stand there and put all America behind him." In 1961 the Cape Cod National Seashore was established by President John F. Kennedy. The Seashore, run by the National Park Service, owns approximately 8,000 acres of the approximately 13,100 acre total land mass of Wellfleet. The result is that despite the growing popularity of the outer Cape as a tourist destination it has not been allowed to overdevelop and has retained much of its natural beauty and charm. Miles of protected pristine beaches. Marconi Beach in Welfleet, Head of the Meadow Beach in Truro, First Encounter Beach in Eastham, Race Point in Provincetown, etc. Please note that all National Seashore beaches are pay to park. And standard Cape Cod warning - Respect the Locals - the Great White sharks locals. Please be mindful and stay far away from the gray seals. :)
Wellfleet has a great walkable down town area and pier. Many shops and restaurants to pop in and out of. Beautiful, quaint and historical - great place to explore on a summer afternoon!
