SOUTH AMERICA - SAFETY
-------------
Ecuador is a beautiful and vibrant country, and the areas through which we are traveling are among the safest that Gabe's family has lived in for generations. However, when traveling to South America, here are some best practices one should follow:
A.) Use common sense when out in public to avoid attracting unwanted attention
B.) The currency in Ecuador is USD, and your cards will be accepted almost everywhere. It's advisable not to carry large amounts of cash; however, there are ATMs you can use at the bank or airport
C.) We suggest not wearing any valuable jewelry, watches, or cameras when walking around on the streets. Leave them at home or in the hotel safe
D.) Be discreet when using your phone on the streets; keep it in your front pocket or purse when walking in public
MONEY
--------------
Conveniently, Ecuador's currency is the US dollar! Feel free to bring/take out cash; however all major US credit cards are widely accepted across Ecuador
