Hotel
This historic hotel was designed by New York architect, Whitney Warren, who also worked on the Biltmore Hotel and Grand Central Terminal in New York City. He also had his hand in the design of Convention Hall, right across the street. In the 1980's Johnny Cash purchased a large suite of rooms here and recorded his album, "The Great Lost Performance" at the Paramount Theater which is a part of Convention Hall. In the 1930's it was known as The Berkeley-Carteret and served as a receiving ship for the British Royal Navy. During WWII it transitioned an official site for U.S. Navy training schools, and in 1945 it was transitioned again into The Naval Special Hospital. In 2007 it was restored to a four star resort.
