We first met when Jess was a junior and Brandon was a senior in high school, despite living 2.5 hours away from each other, making it difficult for chance encounters. Luckily, Jessica had a friend named Tyler, who turned out to be Brandon's cousin. On New Year's Eve in 2013, Tyler introduced Brandon and Jess through Skype. We ended up staying up all night texting each other, even though Jess had to wake up early for basketball practice. From that point on, our conversations never ceased. Our first in-person meeting happened when Brandon's family came up for the Wild Game Feast in Huron County. We spent the evening watching scary movies, providing the perfect excuse for cuddling, and playing hide-and-seek. It was truly an incredible night.

It was Brandon's birthday, and despite spending the morning in urgent care, he still wanted to celebrate by grabbing sushi from our favorite spot in Wyandotte and going to Elizabeth Park. Sitting by the water, we enjoyed our sushi while watching boats pass by. Brandon then suggested playing Pooh Sticks on one of the park's bridges. Since his foot was bothering him, Jess recommended using the rental scooters available in the park. Eventually, we found a bridge with plenty of branches and dropped our sticks into the water. While Jess eagerly watched them come out on the other side, she noticed that Brandon wasn't paying attention. When she turned around, she was met with the surprise of Brandon down on one knee, holding a ring. Jess couldn't contain her excitement, exclaiming "Holy Shit!" and answering "yes" before Brandon even had a chance to pop the question.
