On our first day of Sophomore year, in Spanish class, our teacher instructed the class to introduce ourselves to one another. Elizabeth being loud and peppy as usual, turned to Jerry and exclaimed “Hi! I’m Elizabeth!” Jerry was taken aback by her bubbly energy and quietly introduced himself. Neither of us expected what was to come. New Year’s Eve dawned and Jerry worked up the courage to call Elizabeth, and as she answered the phone her heart skipped a beat. We wished each other a Happy New Year and spoke for hours. That was the moment we each realized how we felt for one another. Three months later, on March 4th, 2008, we became official. Since then our love continues to grow.
For our 12th anniversary we planned to go to Monterey to treat ourselves and do the things we love most. We started the day with our traditional couples massage and then made our way to the aquarium. It began to rain as we were on the way, and we loved it, because it’s our kind of weather. After hours of going around the aquarium, Jerry suggested we do something different and go for a little drive. So we drove down Highway 1, and took in the views of the coast until we arrived at Bixby Creek Bridge. When we got out of the car we walked to the view where all the other tourists were. Jerry kept saying “It’s not supposed to be like this,” as he looked around at all the other people. I was so confused as to what was going on. He grabbed me by the hand and took me to the other side of the bridge and kept leading me forward until it was just us two. We stood in the rain, admiring the bridge. I looked up at Jerry as he glanced over to the side. I turned as well and noticed two old friends recording and taking pictures. As I realized what was going on, tears of happiness began to trickle down my face. Jerry then got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.
