Bob Hope Airport (Hollywood Burbank Airport) OR LAX (Los Angeles International Airport)
Bob Hope Airport and LAX are the best airports to fly into. If you think you found a great deal going to a "nearby" airport, you didn't. You'll pay for it in ride fares later. Transport from the airport: -We recommend Uber/ Lyft, a cab will be way more expensive. But depending on the time of day you're arriving, and the airport you're arriving in, those can get pricey. In which case we recommend, the FlyAway (link above). It stops downtown and in Hollywood, is affordable, and ridesharing from one of the drop-off locations is cheaper than taking a car directly from the airport. -Public transit. Very affordable and the cleanest subway you've ever seen. You will most likely have to take the subway AND a bus, depending on where you're going, and it is the longest form of travel as LA's public transit system is truly lacking, but it can be done!

Safety
LA is a BIG city. It's arguably one of the biggest big cities. It can be crowded and overwhelming, but this is also one reason we love it so much. All neighborhoods in Central Los Angeles are safe. That being said, it is still a city, so exercise caution. There are homeless people everywhere. In all our collective years here, neither of us as ever been accosted by one. They look intimidating, but they mostly keep to themselves, even when they're yelling into the void. Don't be alarmed if you smell weed anywhere at any time. It's California man! It's legal here and people do it constantly. It's not an indicator of being in a bad area, and if you ever feel like you're in a shabby area, just know that you're probably in the hippest hottest new neighborhood in town and there's probably a password protected speakeasy behind you that charges $18 per cocktail.

We recommend using AirBNB. It's LA so there are lots of great options in every area. We live in Los Feliz which is on the northeast side of the city, and it's a nice walkable neighborhood of LA. If you're not sure of which area to stay in, or if something is safe or not, please reach out to us before booking. We're more than happy to discuss.
Rental Car
Search It
For car rentals plan to search for parking everywhere, pay for parking at times, and learn to parallel park and use GPS like a boss. Please note that almost anywhere you go between the hours of 8am-10am and 4pm-7pm will be heavy traffic times. The traffic and 405 welcomes you.
