On a hot July Sunday afternoon, Jeremy arrived early for his first date with Roxy, only to find the restaurant he had chosen had permanently closed. Later, he would learn they had a rodent problem and that he may have dodged a bullet. Roxy drove up to find Jeremy standing on the sidewalk. He told her the restaurant was closed and they needed to find a Plan B so she told him to hop in. They had never met before this moment, so when he went to shake her hand instead of hug her, she realized he was not a serial killer. After lunch at a neighborhood wine bar and hitting it off right away, Jeremy took her to the Fairfax swapmeet. Wandering through the market, they stopped at a used book tent. Jeremy spotted one of his favorite books, "Post Office" by Charles Bukowski, which Roxy had not read. (This would later turn out to be surprising, considering Roxy is the most well-read person Jeremy has ever met). Jeremy bought her the book as a token of their first date, little did he know how deep her obsession for books ran. 5 years and many, many, many books later, in the Dante Rotunda of the Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale of Florence, Italy, Jeremy proposed.
