Flight
For the best travel experience to and from Maui (OGG Airport), we recommend Hawaiian Airlines. Direct flights from the East Coast and mainland US are limited—booking early is recommended. Maui can get busy during peak seasons, so aim to arrive at least a day early to adjust to time zones and relax before events.
Travel Note
Airbnb / Vacation Rentals – Often the most cost-effective option, especially if you’re traveling as a group or with family. Rentals provide extra space, kitchens, and flexibility, making them ideal for a relaxing Maui stay. Hotels / Resorts – For a more luxurious experience, we recommend: Andaz Maui at Wailea – Modern, chic, and right on the beach. Grand Wailea – Iconic resort with stunning pools, spa services, and beachfront access.
Rental Car
Getting Around Maui To make the most of your Maui vacation—and to easily attend as many of our wedding events as possible—we highly recommend renting a car. It’s the easiest way to explore the island at your own pace. If you aren’t renting a car, the best areas to stay are Kīhei or Wailea, which offer convenient access to beaches, restaurants, excursions, and nightlife. Staying in these areas will help you enjoy the island without relying on transportation.
Travel Note
Light, breathable clothing for daytime and slightly warmer layers for evenings. Comfortable shoes for exploring beaches, waterfalls, or the Road to Hana. Sandals/ slippers for casual day-to-day wear. Sun protection: Must have mineral-based, free of oxybenzone and octinoxate sunscreen on Maui (Maui County ordinance), hats, sunglasses—Hawaiian sun is strong, even in winter. Reusable water bottles—tap water is drinkable, and staying hydrated is key.
Travel Note
Respect local culture and nature: do not touch or remove sand, rocks, or plants; always respect wildlife by keeping your distance (it is state law and you could be fined). Check tides prior to swimming. Never enter or exit the ocean with your back to the waves. Honking your car horn is considered rude. Do not do it. Drivers cruise slowly at times. "This ain't the mainland" is a local standard. Leave early for excursions—traffic can be unpredictable, especially along the Hana Highway.
