If you’re on this website, it’s likely that you already know both of us pretty well (at least we hope you do otherwise, hello stranger on our wedding website). But in case you’re curious how a guy from Maryland and a girl from Chicago met, ended up living in California and decided to get married in Florida - here’s the story… Colin grew up in Maryland (hence the Maryland crab above!), attended Emory in Atlanta and then moved to Chicago for business school. After he graduated, he stayed in Chicago and started working at Bain & Company. I grew up in the northern suburbs of Chicago (hence the Chicago flag!) attended Drake in Iowa, and moved to Chicago after graduation and started working at Bain & Company a couple of years later. One day at work we ended up on the same elevator and that's how we officially met! After an accidental friend request while stalking on Facebook, a dinner set-up and a quick conversation with HR - we started officially dating! After a couple of years together, we decided to give California a shot. I couldn’t take on my 29th Midwestern winter and Colin was tired of his only local option for surfing being in Lake Michigan in the middle of the winter (yes - surfing in Lake Michigan is really a thing and yes - he really did this in the middle of winter). Since living in California we've started new jobs, purchased our first home together, and got engaged! The reason we picked Florida is that my family has been vacationing to Sanibel/Captiva since I was a little girl. The island has always been like a second home to me and now that my parents live on Sanibel full-time - it really is home. Colin has come with to visit the island many times over the years and it has quickly become a special place to him, as well. When we got engaged, we couldn’t think of anywhere else we’d want to have the wedding take place. We hope you love and appreciate this little island as much as we do! And thank you for coming! We can’t wait to celebrate with you!
