Maid of Honor
Anja and Jenny were each other's first friend at Columbia Law School, having reunited on day one of orientation after meeting each other at an admitted students event. What followed was three years of late night study sessions anywhere but the library, homemade hotpot, and K-town karaoke nights out. Even now while thousands of miles apart, Jenny has remained a source of support, motivation, and delight for Anja – their virtual workout sessions and bad movie watch parties kept Anja going through the final semester of law school and bar exam studies. Jenny's drive and absolute generosity have set her apart as an exceptional woman and invaluable friend.
Best Man
Vlad met Tyler during his first week of law school, and they have been best friends since. Although the beginning of their friendship was highlighted by drinking and touring Manhattan's dive bars (with Vlad introducing Tyler to the only place in New York where you can get three shots and a beer for $6), they continued to solidify their friendship by purposefully making law school as difficult as possible. Over the years, they have visited the Supreme Court together, spent countless nights studying for exams or preparing job applications, and never forgot to celebrate with numerous nightly outings. Their friendship is only likely to grow stronger as Vlad, with the help of the groomsmen, prepares an unforgettable bachelor party for Tyler.

Katie and Jenny met on their first day of high school and soon became friends as they bonded over tough biology exams, long messages to each other on their yearbooks filled with inside jokes, and teenage angst (fortunately Katie traded in the angst for a PhD over the 13 years of being Jenny’s friend). When Katie went off to UVA for college and grad school and Jenny to Duke and Columbia, their long distance friendship has only continued to grow thanks to Snapchats of Katie’s two adorable dogs, Instagram tagging, and even seven hour drives to visit.

Nav first met Tyler a few years ago at a social event just prior to beginning law school. In fact, Tyler was one of the first people Nav met when he moved to the United States from Canada. Over the ensuing years they've taken trips together, hung out regularly, and managed a student organization. Through it all Tyler has been a great friend, showing Nav his hometown in New Hampshire, teaching him how to fish, letting Nav borrow his car to play golf, and always being there to nudge Nav awake when he dozed off in class.

Annelise met Jenny on the 1L struggle bus the first week of law school, but REALLY met Jenny at karaoke and over New York's best watermelon soju -- and discovered one of her favorite people. Jenny is that rare, balanced combination of friendly, funny, ambitious, adventurous, and discerning that makes the best sort of friend and will make the best sort of bride. Even since their friendship has become long-distance since graduating law school, Annelise and Jenny still bond over a mutual appreciation for small fluffy instagram dogs and conversations about Annelise's new sewing projects.

Karan met Tyler during orientation at Swarthmore College and Tyler was quickly adopted into Karan’s “hall family.” They became close friends and roommates, sharing many triumphs and growing pains. Since graduation, they have remained closely connected, making multiple trips back and forth to see each other across the country, making memories in Miami, Atlanta, and Nashville. Karan has seen Tyler’s growth through college and beyond as a teacher, lawyer, and now happy husband. He knows Tyler to be an incredibly genuine and caring friend who also knows how to party… well known for his role in the legendary “Club Poon” campus parties, stories of which are still talked about by current Swarthmore College students. No doubt, his wedding and marriage will also be legendary.

Stephanie and Jenny lived in the same dorm as freshmen at Duke, were part of the tight-knit Genome Focus, and even had the same thesis advisor. But it was in DC, while Stephanie was working at the NIH and Jenny at HHS, and both were applying for law schools, that their relationship blossomed, and Stephanie discovered that Jenny was one of the bravest and most caring people she knew. Stephanie treasures their friendship, because they shared everything from LSAT results to wedding workouts, and because it was quite literally a hidden gem.

My name is Steven Kim. I've known Tyler since 2014, when we were wild, young, and somewhat responsible in Miami. I convinced Tyler to room with me in Miami while we were both taught high school through Teach for America. We became proud mentors to our students, including Spencer. And we also had the time of our lives, hitting up the beaches, going to Ultra, and eating copious amounts of Cuban, Haitian, and Latin American food. Although we've left our hearts in Miami, I'm thankful that I gained a brother like Tyler, and I can't wait to watch Tyler and Jenny crush the world with their wits and ridiculousness!

Alex first met Jenny at an orientation barbecue at the beginning of their journey at Columbia Law School. Alex and Jenny quickly discovered that they actually went to the same college and quickly bonded thereafter. Throughout law school, Alex and Jenny explored many nail parlors throughout New York City and during a summer vacation, Jenny visited Alex in her hometown in China and explored great food and experiences! Jenny has been the most caring friend who is always there to talk to and laugh with. While Jenny and Alex are no longer able to explore in the same city, the long-distance will not be an impediment to their friendship.

Spencer has known Tyler since Tyler was his 11th grade reading teacher at North Miami Senior High School. At first, Spencer thought Tyler was another easy, young teacher. Little did Spencer know the influence Tyler would come to have on his life and how a friendship would develop. After achieving a score just below passing on a state reading exam that he had to pass to graduate, Spencer threatened to drop out. Tyler took Spencer out in the hallway and gave Spencer a stern talk. Then, Tyler tutored Spencer on the ACT almost every day after school. Tyler and Spencer have stayed close ever since and hang out every time Tyler heads down to Miami. Tyler also bought Spencer his first legal drink when Tyler first brought Jenny down to Miami. Jenny got a stamp of approval, and the rest is history.

Christina met Jenny and Tyler in a shared Uber pool ride heading back home from Columbia Law’s Barrister’s Ball. Within minutes, Christina found out that Jenny was the only other Columbia Law student who would be a summer associate at Hogan Lovells’ DC office the following month. From then on, Christina knew that she and Jenny would be good friends and important people in each other’s lives. As summer associates, Christina and Jenny were each other’s go-to buddies at events and meetings. During one fateful bus ride to a firm-sponsored crab feast, Jenny and Christina made travel plans to take advantage of a more lax 3rd year of law school and the time off before work started. They went on to take beautiful, memorable trips to Chicago, Charleston, Asheville, Durham, and more.

Cole, 25, grew up in St. Louis, MO. After attending college in Richmond, Virginia, he enrolled in Columbia Law School where he would eventually meet Tyler. Cole met Tyler the same day he met Vlad, the Best Man, at Arts & Crafts tavern, discussing joining Columbia's Federalist Society chapter. Tyler and Vlad would eventually become Co-Presidents of the organization for the 2019-2020 school year, and Cole would do the same for the following year. Cole became friends with Tyler primarily through the Federalist Society, where Tyler was a helpful friend and mentor. And Cole became friends with Jenny, too, in a shared law school class. Now, both Tyler and Cole anticipate starting their careers in Washington, D.C.
