Love in the Time of Corona

Due to the current pandemic we have altered our wedding plans. We'll still be saying "I Do" on September 5 in Carlisle but only with our families and bridal party. We would like to invite you to watch our ceremony via livestream instead. Please look out for an email closer to the date letting you know how to watch. We look forward to having in person celebrations whenever it is safe to do so. We're sorry you can't all be there in person but are excited to start our lives as Mr. and Mrs. Hansen-Neff!

How We Met

Our Digital Fairy Tale

In 2012 we both had accounts on tumblr.com, a microblogging/social media website. Jenny starting following Kaleb's blog first and Kaleb followed her back (obviously). We "liked" and "reblogged" each other's posts from a far at first. Then we started emailing and basically became internet pen pals. We both enjoyed telling each other about our days and discussing what was happening with the latest Marvel movie or episode of Doctor Who. Eventually we decided we'd like to meet face to face. The only problem was we lived (literally) 1000 miles apart! On November 21 2014 Kaleb flew from Iowa to PA for the first time. We spent a week getting to know one another as Jenny showed Kaleb all around Central PA. A month later, Jenny flew out to Iowa so Kaleb could have a turn playing host. We spent time flying back and forth until eventually Kaleb moved to PA!

The Proposal

9-9-19

To celebrate the end of summer we went to the Poconos for a weekend getaway. We went to Bushkill Falls, a beautiful area with multiple waterfalls we could hike around. There was one waterfall there named "Bridal Veil Falls." What perfect place to get engaged right? Well no.... we had saved that one for second to last and by the time we arrive it was insanely crowded. We couldn't even get close to the falls. Jenny suggested we walk to the next waterfall and loop back around a little later to see if it was less crowded. She didn't know for certain if this was Kaleb's proposal plan but suspected. Jenny did not know that the next waterfall involved hiking down a million steps. As this became clear, it also became clear that we would not be returning to Bridal Veil Falls anytime soon as it was getting more crowded and Jenny was growing tired and thirsty and in need of ice cream. We hiked out of the falls, rehydrated, and secured ice cream. After showers and a brief nap, we went to dinner. Jenny thought it might happen at dinner but wasn't sure. It didn't happen but we had a delicious dinner and Kaleb had a drink named after a Harry Potter spell so it was a good time. The next morning we went to Grey Towers, the family home of Gifford Pinchot. Gifford Pinchot was a Governor of Pennsylvania, advocate of conservation, friend of Teddy Roosevelt, and founder of the US Forest Service. We went on a tour of the beautiful house and gardens. Shout out to our tour guide Therese! After the tour we wandered around the gardens a bit more to take some pictures (one of which is at the top of this website). Jenny was taking selfies with weird turkey statues and then asked Kaleb if he wanted to go to lunch. Kaleb asked Jenny if he could ask her a different question and pulled out a ring. Jenny (finally) said yes.
