During an evening of swiping (mostly left) on Tinder with her bestie, Mike, Jenny paused on Candice's profile which read, "Find me on Instagram," so that's what Jenny did. Much to her surprise, Candice followed her back, and that was that.. for a few weeks. Then Jenny got brave and commented on a story Candice posted of her family doing a mimosas cheers at Thanksgiving. The year was 2018, and boomerang posts were all the rage, and definitely deserving of a cute comment, so Jenny obliged. Sadly, several days later, Jenny had to say goodbye to her beloved, 19 year old dog, Talley. After a week of finding a new normal, Jenny was invited to Wiseman Brewery with a group she normally didn't hang out with, but decided it would be a good reason to get back out into the world. After a couple of beers, nature called, and Jenny walked into the bathroom at Wiseman only to find the Internet Stranger standing directly in front of her, drying her hands. Jenny stopped dead in her tracks, and said, "Hey! You're Candice, right?" After the unexpected and slightly awkward greeting, Candice and Jenny returned to their respective tables. Shortly after, Jenny headed home to be in the comfort of her sweet dog, Kona, and within minutes, Candice slid into her DMs with a simple message of her shock: "You left?!" You see, Candice was quite popular with the ladies, and rarely had to pursue a date. Jenny is super independent and a bit aloof, so this was game on. Jenny and Candice began going out together, mostly with friends as buffers- Jenny knew that her heart was still healing from her loss and not yet ready to love in a large capacity again. They became great friends, and saw each other often. Candice casually dated, and Jenny did her thing. During an evening out together, just the two of them, Candice asked if Jenny wanted to have dinner at the Cousin's Maine Lobster food truck. Never having tasted lobster, Jenny explained that she wanted her first lobster meal to be the full experience: a fresh Maine lobster, seaside, in the state of Maine, and that she was actually planning a solo trip to go soon. Candice, without skipping a beat, boldly declared, "I'll go with you." And Ms. Independent Jenny surprising herself, without hesitation said, "Ok." Off to the airport they go, and never having done anything remotely as intense as traveling together, things are slightly awkward. Traveling with someone for the first time is kinda a big step, inviting all the questions: "How well will we navigate a city together, will we want to go to the same places, do we even enjoy the same things, and OMG we have to share a bed in the tiny AirBnb, and shower and get ready together for the first time, and EEEk what the hell have we done?" Landing in Portland, ME, things shifted. There was a different kind of energy. They found themselves REALLY leaning into this whole experience, and before they knew it, they were walking around, holding hands as naturally as breathing. Strangers approached the two several times during the weekend to say what a "beautiful love" was between them. Jenny and CP were on Cloud 9, and had no plans to come down anytime soon. They shared their official first date on the beautiful seaside of Maine, with a big, fresh Maine lobster, and a glimpse into the rest of their lives.
