Cowboy Jack's- DT Minneapolis It was a mutual acquaintance's birthday party. Jenny arrived at the party with her roommate (Cally) but became separated. Not knowing many other people at the party, Jenny decided to make the most of it by making small talk with new people, something that was completely out of character for her. Maybe she'd make a new friend..... like Elliott!!! When Cally finally caught up with Jenny, she was playing darts with Elliott. Neither was very good at darts but it just made the whole thing that much more endearing.
They had a really nice first date at La Grolla but then had a miscommunication in the post-date follow-up. After a minor disagreement, Jenny decided that if they were already arguing after knowing each other less than a week, it wasn't worth pursuing further. In all fairness to Elliott though, Jenny likes to argue.
Over the next 6 months Elliott took advantage of every excuse to tag along when mutual friends were hanging out and Jenny was present. Their chemistry was undeniable so on Grand Old Day they decided to give it another go. And what better way to mark the occasion than by observing a classic Saint Paul tradition? Grand Old Day 2014 is considered their "second first date".
Over the next 7 years, Jenny & Elliott wrote our story all over Saint Paul including: Fajita Fridays at the (sk)Onion Weekend brunches at Moose Country. Wild games at Xcel Energy Center and countless more evenings cheering them on from Tom Reid's and McGovern's. Weeknight date nights walking to 7th street Social. Summer nights on Sweeney's patio Wings at Tiffany's. Winter Carnival Ice Castle in Rice Park Bike Rides along the Mississippi through Crosby Farm and Hidden Falls Parks In 2019 they moved into our Townhome in Bloomington. The joke is that that's when everything went downhill for Saint Paul. It wasn't the same after that. Right after they moved out of Saint Paul they tried to cancel Grand Ol' Day and not long after the old hangouts started to be flipped into new ones for others. Guess they couldn't imagine it without us! Since moving to the 'burbs life has slowed down a bit. Jenny and Elliott adopted a dog (Stella), worked on countless DIY project together and both work from home now. COVID has been a big part of that slow down but they are happy in the little nest they've created.
Canal Park, Duluth MN For Elliott's Birthday they stayed up North for a covid friendly stay-cation. On the morning of Elliott's birthday, Elliott suggested they go for a walk in canal park after breakfast. At the end of the pier, right by the little lighthouse, Elliott found a quiet moment, dropped down on one knee and popped the question. And ya'll are reading all this because Jenny said YES. (F'in Finally AMIRIGHT?) :)
