We love our furbabies just as much as the next, but after a lot of difficult consideration, we decided it best to leave our pups with a sitter. There are a few reasons this will not be a pet-friendly event, and we hope you understand. After all it is a wedding. 1) There will be lots of guests, some being small children, and strangers can aggitate some pets. 2) Excessive barking, and in our puppy's case - whining for her dad, can make it difficult to enjoy the music and hear the speeches. 3) There may be loud noises such as fireworks, if permitted. Sometimes this can upset and frighten our little friends. 4) There are 2 resident beagles and 1 cat that inhabit the island. We are guests at their home, and we want to make sure everyone gets along and not to be intrusive. 5) We want you to have a great time and interact without worrying for the safety of your furbabies in an unfamiliar environment.
Uhm, do you really know us? Yes, of course there will be booze! There will be kegs, wine, and lots o' delicious hooch. Otherwise BYOB. Even though we were permitted to bring the libations, we were warned to keep the containers hidden. This is a summer camp run by KY State Troopers for underprivileged children. The last thing they want are pictures of drunks promoting booze on their island. Therefore, we promised to be respectful and hide the containers, not take pictures involving the liquor, to clean up after ourselves, and to provide our own personal garbage bins without the island logo on it.
Almost everywhere. The Captain's house is off limits. You will see it as soon as you get off the ferry. Also on the dock-side of the island, there is a weather cam that anyone online can Google. In fact, WBKO checks in every morning for the view of the weather from this camera. We were asked to stay away from it's viewpoint after having drinks. Also, please please do not do anything obscene in the view of the camera! Do not make me call you out by name! You know who you are! We were very fortunate to be able to use the island for our reception (seeing as how it is not a wedding venue), and I do not want to disrespect the owners of this beautiful property or the families of the children who come here.
