Flight
Sorrento is located about 30 miles south of Naples. The closest airport is Naples Capodichino International Airport (NAP) and is approximately an hour-long journey from Sorrento. Alternatively, the next closest airport is Rome’s Leonardo da Vinci International Airport (FCO), which is about 160 miles, and a 3 hour journey from Sorrento.
Travel Note
If you land in NAP airport and wish to reach Sorrento by train or ferry, use the Alibus Shuttle bus, which will take you from the airport to either Stazione Centrale for the train or Molo Beverello Statzione Marittima for the ferry port. Tickets are €5, and run every twenty minutes, taking 20-60 minutes depending on traffic. From the airport, shuttles run 6:00am to 11:40pm. From the port/train station to the airport, shuttles run 5:30am to 12:10am. The only other way to get to the train station or ferry port is by taxi or private transfer. The taxi has a set fare of about €20 to the train station and €25 to the port. Be sure to ask for the set rate before you start the trip. There is an official taxi queue in the arrivals area, but be wary/ignore unlicensed drivers who may approach you. Travel Note
This is likely the most scenic and relaxing way to reach Sorrento! Alilauro’s Naples-Sorrento line is active all year long, and the routes depart from the Molo Beverello Statzione Marittima pier. You can reach the port by taxi or via the Alibus route which leaves from the NAP airport. The high speed ferry takes 40 minutes and tickets cost around €14 with an additional €2 per bag. To get from the port of Sorrento where the ferry drops you off to the center of town, you will need to climb a steep road of about 100 steps. There are also buses and taxis available to take you uphill from the port. You can buy tickets beforehand online or at the port at the Alilauro ticket window. Train
Naples Central Train Station (Statzione Centrale in Piazza Garibaldi) is one of the two main train stations in Naples where high speed trains arrive from Milan, Florence, and Rome (as well as the Alibus shuttle from NAP airport). Downstairs is the Circumvesuviana train station and has the line that runs from Naples to Sorrento. Tickets cost less than €4 and the ride lasts from 1 hr and 10 mins to 1hr and 40 mins with many stops along the way- Sorrento is the last stop. Circumvesuviana is a commuter train along a main line, so can get very crowded with limited seating and no air conditioning. It can be especially crowded on Sunday mornings and national holidays. The Naples train station has the same sort of safety issues that any train station in a large city may have, so keep an eye on your valuables and documents and don’t wear expensive jewelry. The train usually runs on time with occasional delays, but is generally the cheapest/fastest way to reach Sorrento (not the most comfortable). If you are traveling with a number of bags, we do not recommend traveling by the Circumvesuviana as there are no escalators to reach the platforms and no space for luggage so you may end up having to stand with your bags if the train is crowded. (In this case, the most convenient alternative is to book a private transfer from the station to your hotel in Sorrento). Travel Note
Taking the bus is a great stress free way to enjoy the beautiful views of the Sorrentine Coast from a higher vantage point. The Curreri bus departs from the NAP airport terminal and arrives in Sorrento in about 1 hour. The bus stop is opposite the airport arrivals gate and you can purchase your ticket beforehand or on board for €10. The buses arrive about 10 minutes before scheduled departure and there is ample space for luggage on board. The buses run daily, and are comfortable and safe. Sit on the right side to enjoy the beautiful views of the Sorrentine peninsula along the way! Please click “view” for link to additional information, timetables, ticket purchasing, etc.

Quick caveat: Southern Italian driving is worse than the Wild West- you’ve been warned! General Directions from Naples: From Highway A3 Napoli - Pompeii - Sorrento (Naples - Pompeii - Sorrento), exit at Castellammare di Stabia and continue straight following the signs to "Sorrento". After passing through three tunnels and a few kilometers of curvy, scenic road, you'll pass through the towns of Meta, Piano, and Sant'Agnello and arrive in Sorrento. Parking in Sorrento: There is no free parking in Sorrento. All available parking is in pay lots and costs around €2/hour or €25/day. The largest and most convenient parking lot is Il Correale, behind Piazza Lauro. For those interested in travelling to Capri, there is a parking lot at Sorrento's port. *We will have free private parking the day of our ceremony/reception at Residenza Massa.*
Travel Note
Private sedan car transfers are definitely the easiest and most comfortable way to reach Sorrento. Cost for a one way transfer is around €100/140 for 1 to 3 guests and €140/200 for 4 to 6 guests from NAP airport to Sorrento. If your flight lands late to NAP airport (last bus and ferry leave at 7:30pm) we recommend you book a private transfer to reach Sorrento. There are also shared shuttle vans that operate a door-to-door service between Naples Airport and Sorrento. Average price is €35 per person. They leave at set times (generally every hour) and do not operate at night. Should you wish to book a private transfer or a door-to-door shuttle, you may contact simona@happybrides.net Please click “view” for link to additional information, timetables, ticket purchasing, etc.
Travel Note
If you would like to travel directly to Sorrento from Rome, you may opt to take the Marozzi bus. The trip takes about 4 hours, but there is space for storing luggage, and you don’t ever have to change lines. Buses depart each day from the ROMA TIBURTINA train station at 7am and 3pm. Alternatively if you would like to stop in Naples first, then take any of the previously mentioned travel methods from NAP to Sorrento. There are flight (50 minutes), train (1 hour fast train or 3 hours slow train), and car/bus (2 hours) options easily available. Reach out to us if you would like any help with this!
