Mary & I met my very first day at the bookstore. She trained me and after about 30 seconds said “you’re smart, I like you!” Having been friends since then, she’s invited Cauli & I into her home so much so that we joke we’re roommates. Mary & I never run out of things to talk about and even when Yahtzee gets heated, our friendship stays strong. Mary and I turn everything into an event. We literally went to an early dinner together at 4 pm one day at a place in Beverly Hills where it was clear everyone around us had just gotten/was getting engaged but all we had just done was gotten some amazing deals at The Beverly Connection. Mary is a constant source of joy and positivity. She’s smart and I love her.

Hannah Barbeau

Hannah and I met in the fifth grade when we were in “The Big Friendly Giant” together. Hannah has been a sister to me, a dad joke which has never been lost on Phil Wolfsohn. She’s the kindest person I know and I’m lucky to have someone so compassionate, creative and talented as a friend. Hannah is probably the only person I know who actually would have enough points to make it to “The Good Place.” She is loving, warm and still is my friend even after we thought it would be a good idea to give her hair layers with my kitchen scissors in high school.

Simon Butler

Simon and Jenna met at Cotton On when he came over from Australia on business. We quickly bonded over our unique sense of humor and mutual appreciation for Cauliflower, indie music and 100% participation in whatever high jinks the other is up to. Simon is the friend who always makes me laugh. One of us will start making coffee and the other one will quickly step into the role of assistant barista to the regional barista. Simon puts up with my spot on impression of his accent and my fascination with Basil, the sheep. He is a warm, kind, quirky and intelligent friend. Whether we are tearing up the dance floor at the Roxy with our moves or giving dogs in West Hollywood hypothetical backstories, Simon Butler makes every day brighter.

Megan Collins

Megan Collins & I met at the bookstore. She was the supervisor who actually got everyone to do their jobs. I remember learning that she liked the bachelor franchise and thinking...”oh my gosh! I have something in common with this incredibly intelligent, put together human being.” Megan is the friend who will never let me give up on myself and I cherish our “commute talks” on my way home from work. Megan is incredibly thoughtful, elegant and compassionate and I feel so fortunate to have her as a friend.

Maggie was originally Steve’s friend and then she realized I was way cooler! Just kidding, Steve!! Maggie is my culinary wizard friend who took the time to try to make a chocolate pie from tofu for me when I went vegan before Whole Foods realized our market potential. My house doesn’t feel like home unless Maggie is with my mom and I watching a movie while my brother falls asleep instantly. She is so patient with me and my family and is an amazing listener. I know my mom is going to be ok because Maggie is near.

Steven Lam is the reason I know Zane. He got me the job at the Bookstore. We actually met welcome week at USC. One minute, we were strangers and the next, we were inseparable. One of my favorite Steven-isms are his spontaneous cards. He actually sends handwritten notes just to say hello in the MAIL. I’ve always wanted a pen pal but now I’ve got a pen pal and a friend.
