Flight

DCA, IAD, and BWI are the airports closest to D.C.

DCA (Reagan National Airport) is the closest to NW D.C. where the wedding festivities will be; about a 15 minute drive. You can easily get a cab, Lyft/Uber, or take the Yellow or Blue line metro. The metro is $2.00 from DCA to our place in NW, DC. It takes about 30-40 minutes, depending on if the yellow line is running all of the way, or if you have to switch off at L'Enfant Plaza to the green line. IAD (Dulles International Airport) is the next closest and is about a 40 minute drive. A cab will be expensive, however, the Silver Line metro now has direct service from IAD to D.C. It's less than $5.00 and will take about one hour and 25 minutes. The Silver line connects to the Red, and Green and Yellow lines in NW D.C. where the wedding festivities are located. BWI (Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport) is the third option and is about a 50 minute drive. You can take the MARC train directly from BWI Airport to Union Station in NW D.C. where you can get a cab or transfer to the Red line metro. The MARC train is usually around $10.00. Click on the WMATA website and go to Arriving by Rail under the listing for BWI Airport.

Hotel

Lodging

We do not have a hotel room block reserved as we realize our friends and family have different travel styles, price points, and preferences. DC has an abundance of lodging options at all price points. There are fancy hotels, middle of the road ones, hostels, BNB’s, Air BNB’s, etc. We recommend staying in NW D.C. near the wedding festivities. If you are unsure of a property please don’t hesitate to reach out to us to ask about the property itself or the location. We are happy to point you in the right direction and can provide suggestions. We want everyone to have a great time and be safe. We've included a link for Air BNB with an initial search of the approximate dates you may need: https://bit.ly/NaregJen We've also included a link for Hotels.com which may be helpful: http://bit.ly/JenNareg We have booked a hotel room at the The Viceroy (on Rhode Island Avenue) for our wedding weekend. It's halfway between our condo where the brunch will be, and the evening celebration location. It's also between the Red, and Green and Yellow line metros.

Travel Note

Travel during rush hour

We don't recommend taking a cab or Lyft/Uber if you arrive or depart during rush hour times. The metro will be a much better option. Metro is always going to be cheaper, and depending on the time of day, could be faster. Jennifer prefers to take cabs in DC and Nareg prefers to take an Uber. If that's helpful at all! We've included the WMATA (Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority) website to help you with planning your metro travel. Metro cards can be purchased at all metro stations. Click on Travel Planner on the website to map your destination and see times, price, and availability.

Travel Note

Driving and parking in DC

Driving and parking in DC is a pain and expensive (hotel and valet costs are ridiculous, and parking and speeding tickets are given generously - trust us on this). We recommend taking public transportation like the bus or metro. If you want to catch a ride, Jennifer prefers taking cabs and Nareg prefers Uber. We usually walk everywhere, and recommend it to see the city! Unless it's hot and humid. Then definitely catch a ride. We've included the DC Circulator website as an additional transportation option around the city.
