We met the summer of 2017, when we matched online and shortly thereafter met in real life by getting dinner at Izakaya Rintaro in SF. The night passed quickly as we spent hours talking and eating until we were the last people left in the restaurant. Over the rest of that summer, Lam eventually wooed Jenn by first being a friend, and then eventually making his way into her heart (and stomach) with his cooking skills.
Nervously, in a forest. One of our first memories together was taking a short hike through Muir Woods. It was Jenn's first time admiring the tall redwoods, and it was one of our first activities together after we officially became a couple. On our visit there, we had stopped at the fourth bridge and spent a while just having a simple conversation, enjoying each other's company, and enjoying our scenic surroundings. Lam knew that when it came time, that same spot was where he was going to propose. When the day came, we arrived at Muir Woods, and Lam was so nervous and eager to propose, he unintentionally was racing through the hiking path to get to the bridge. At one point, Jenn wondered out loud, "Why are we going so fast?!" Once we got to the bridge, we took a break, chatted, and admired the scenery once again. Lam waited for a clear moment where we had the bridge mostly to ourselves and told Jenn that he had a surprise for her. He got down on one knee and pulled out the ring. After opening her eyes, Jenn started crying (happily!) and eventually said yes!
