Flight
Although Monterey Regional Airport is closest to our wedding venues, San Jose International Airport will most likely be the more affordable option. Car rentals can be reserved (please reserve in advance!) at San Jose Airport so that you can drive directly to Monterey after your flight. The drive is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. While we highly recommend you rent a car as getting taxis and public transportation is not convenient in the area, if you do need to get to Monterey without renting a car you can take the Monterey Air Bus which will take you to Monterey. The air bus leaves from both San Jose and San Francisco Airport. It is cheaper to book this online before you travel.
Travel Note
Garrapata State Park Bluff Trail. Parking is off the side of the road. Ceremony starts at 5:30. Please see schedule for more details.
Travel Note
Our reception is at the De Tierra Events property. GETTING HERE: 505 Corral de Tierra Rd., Salinas, Ca 93908. Please pin the location first. The roads are rural and not well lit, so please make sure you have directions before leaving the highway. There are two gates to the property, the correct gate will be open, showing the address 505. Go through the gates and continue straight, then veer left as the road splits. GATE CODE: The gates will be left open during your stay. If you should find them closed, the gate code is #1987 for the exterior gate, and #1987 for the interior gate leading to the courtyard. WIFI/CELL RECEPTION: Corral de Tierra is a rural area. Cell reception is spotty, and not great for most carriers at the Hacienda House. Please plan accordingly. We do have high speed internet and a landline for use during your visit. Wifi is all access through VINEYARD GUEST and there is NO PASSWORD REQUIRED.
Hotel
Rooms are available on the property for the night before (Sun 10-6) and the night of (Mon 10-7). The cost is $100 per person for BOTH nights (so 50$ a night). This will include breakfast the morning of the wedding. Please note that rooms/beds vary in size and will be allotted on basis of first come first serve. Please Venmo Ben directly at @Benjamin-White-500 to reserve a room. We recommend this for the sake of convenience, especially for the bridal party as we will have a shuttle taking us to the ceremony site. If you do not choose to stay on site the night before/night of the wedding, please remember that returning to Big Sur the night after the wedding is not an option. It will be too dark and too far. The coastal roads will also not be safe at this time. Instead, please plan on either securing accommodation near the venue in Salinas or Monterey.
Travel Note
We recommend you arrive early to enjoy the breathtaking central coast! Monterey is probably the most convenient location as it is close to Big Sur and Carmel, is cheaper than both, has cell reception, and there is easy access to restaurants, supermarkets and hotels. Please note that while Monterey and Carmel do have cell service and well-lit roads, if you're driving in Big Sur off Highway 1 or any other rural roads, you will likely lose cell service, so please do not depend on your phones alone for GPS. The clifftop roads can be extremely treacherous at night. Always assign a designated driver and drive slowly and carefully if in these areas. Our Salinas venue is in an extremely rural area that has no cell service. Make sure your phone is set to wifi calling if possible once on the premises and have a printed map just in case. At night, the roads around the area get extremely dark, so please drive with caution.
