Our story is typical at its core, but special in the details: an SMC girl was set up with an ND guy for SMC formal. We were set up for no other reason than “you’re both fun and have red-ish hair!” And now we’re getting married! We had met before the formal at a Keenan Hall Christmas party in early December 2013. We were introduced and Connor was immediately interested. Jennie, on the other hand, was “too into school.” During winter break, the group text flooded with the topic of SMC formal dates. Our friends thought we would have fun together, so Jennie agreed to go with Connor—for the good of the group. That night we had a lot of fun, but Jennie still denied having feelings for Connor. Fast forward one month, and Connor had still not given up. We would see each other regularly in group settings, and Connor could always make Jennie laugh. As it turns out, Jennie was the last person to know she had a crush on Connor. But once she finally admitted it, everything fell into place. Our relationship has lasted though a lot and we wouldn’t change a thing: a summer of “long distance” (Texas to Indiana), two years of college, countless parties, college graduation, a year of REAL long distance (Japan to Michigan), our first “grown up” jobs, and eventually ending up in the same city. It wasn’t always easy, but we made it work and we made it fun. After 5 years of dating, Connor popped the question and Jennie said yes without hesitation. Now we get to enter into this next chapter of our lives as husband and wife.
