We first met at a Halloween party at Spielbound (local boardgame cafe). Jenni's first impression: 'he has a calm presence. and a baseball hat.' Daniel's first impression was 'Dang, she's competitive!'
We slowly started growing closer. I think it was the masks (throwback to COVID), but both of us would laugh so hard during bible study that our glasses would fog up. Kaiti Beazley (one of the bridesmaids!) started sowing seeds in Jenni's ear "What do you think about Daniel? You two would be so cute together!", and Daniel noticed how much Jenni cared about her friends and her vulnerability in conversation. She noticed how intentionally he spent his time on people in conversation. And so the matchmaking went on. We didn't date right away though - we courted for almost a year before agreeing to date; before we even started dating, we were best friends. This year of courting culminated in our wonderful first date at the Hy-Vee in Council Bluffs getting COVID tested.
After a wonderful 3 1/2 years together, laughing and crying together, studying and staying up on-call together until 3am together, we went to Lauritzen Gardens. But Jenni knew it was happening - Daniel isn't normally so firm about date locations. So... we were both so nervous that we zoomed through the gardens. And way back in the discovery garden, he proposed with the most beautiful speech, and the most beautiful ring. And I said "Yes." He later tried to deny it and said I just hugged him and didn't say yes - in this particular case, he was indeed incorrect! XD
