INTRODUCTION

First Sight

In 2011, Jenn and Boog were introduced through a mutual friend named Kevin Harden aka Duke. Jenn attended law school with Kevin and attended pretty much every party thrown at the 4s (the nickname given to Kevin's old apartment). Boog hosted an impromptu midnight BBQ at the 4s to celebrate his birthday. It was here where he noticed this beautiful young lady doing her make up in the driver seat of her Honda Accord at 2am on 52nd Street. I know I know, what the heck was she thinking. After a few shared laughs and random convos over the course of the night, who knew that this introduction would be the beginning of a lifelong friendship and the beginning of their love story?

SKATEUATIONSHIP

Skate Partners for Life

Jenn and Boog grew up in the skating rink although on different sides of the city. Jenn from Carmen (North Philly) and Boog from Elmwood (Southwest) yet both resumed skating at Millennium Skate World around the same time in 2013. Being a familiar face, both jokingly would take to each other for couples skating. Each week, at the announcement of "couples skate" they would head straight to each other. Their inside joke and skate partnership eventually gained the term "a skateuationship!" The rules were simple, in the rink, they belonged to each other, lol. Boog made the mistake of skating with a friend during one of their sessions and quickly learned the error of his ways. The little hint of jealousy was more then enough to learn the full extent of their new found skateuationship. Spending time together eventually spilled outside of the rink and before they knew it, they weren't many days they weren't together.

Let's Make It Official

Jenn and Boog's love blossomed so organically through friendship that they had to backtrack to what they believed to be their first proper date to "make it official." Boog asked Jenn to go see a movie and get drinks. (She didn't know at the time that he didn't even drink! lol). He drove to pick her up in traditional date-fashion and in traditional Jenn-and-Boog fashion they joked about how late he was and who was the better/faster driver to get them there on time. Although Jenn is still the better driver :) (in her mind) Boog impressed her that day by putting the pedal to the metal and getting them there quickly, safely and on-time. They went for drinks after... which amounted to some of the best conversation and Boog watching Jenn drink :) November 22, 2013 will always be a celebrated day for them.

OUR BLENDED FAMILY

A Family That Grows Together, Stays Together

Over those next few years, Jenn and Boog moved in together, nurtured a bond between their daughters, and focused on their careers. They stuck by and supported each other through career changes, lifestyle changes, schedule changes, and a host of other challenges. As any other young couple, they faced an enormous amount of difficulty as it related to cultivating this new life for their children and family. Jennifer ultimately helped mold Boog into the loving, caring, and providing father that he is today. There hasn't been anything able to weaken their friendship and love for one another. That friendship and love continues to grow and strengthen with each day, with each memory, and with each promise.

Boog's Surprise Proposal

First Wednesday is a big deal in the skate community; the biggest adult skate night of the month. People travel from all the surrounding cities to skate on First Wednesdays at Millennium. Jenn's sister, Tiffany, recently accepted a job offer with the School District of Philadelphia and would be joining the District's ranks with Jenn. They were ecstatic that they both would be working in the same offices. Tiff suggested that they celebrate at First Wednesday that week since Boog would be djing. Jenn was excited to celebrate Tiff's new job by doing what she loved to do most, SKATE! Boog had bullied his way into the DJ lineup, unbeknownst to Jenn, just to make sure things did not seem odd. During the session, the floor was cleared for routine announcements and skate sessions (fastbackwards, trains, couples). After a fast backwards skate, Boog announced that there would be a couples' skate. Jenn was so nervous at the thought of couples skating on First Wednesday after taking so many weeks off. Boog came down from the DJ booth, grabbed Jenn’s hand and led her to the skate floor. Once on the skate floor, Boog took a mic from his back pocket and made a surprise announcement! He announced to the entire First Wednesday crowd that it was only right that he return to where the couple's love first began to ask Jenn to marry him. Jenn was so surprised and overcome with happiness!! She was quickly surrounded by all of her family and friends who had been strategically hiding unnoticed around the rink. Boog's proposal was special because it not only tied back to the place where their love began, but it was hinged on him knowing every detail about Jenn's routine and movements for the surprise to work so perfectly! Needless to say, Jenn said YES!
