We met at Chick-fil-A and became work friends pretty soon after but didn’t really know each other outside of work. And then I (Jenna) started to think, “hey I kinda like this guy” and began scheming how we could interact outside of work more! Over the next couple of months one of our mutual friends at work heard about my interest and was brought into the scheming. Mariah began planning friend hangouts, holiday get togethers, and game nights so that Micah and I could get to know each other. We laughed and played games, sang songs around the campfire and most importantly talked the nights away over Giant Yard Jenga. Fast forward a couple of months and we’re in the beginning of December and I have no clue how to talk to Micah outside of one of the planned hangouts or random texts about walking to the store late at night or asking silly questions. But then it was December 3rd while we were at work when we got to the point where we sat down and had the DTR (determine the relationship) conversation that started it all. We talked about the fact that we liked each other and then it went something like this for Micah, “let’s just be friends for a few months and call that a start” and for me , I passably blew it off and said, “oh yeah, for sure I totally agree” even though I was completely head over heels for him. And thus begins the 20hr conversation timer… Over the next week we talked for 20hrs via texting, calling and in person. One night we sat in the work parking lot and talked for 3 hours and forgot that time even existed and then continued the conversation through text until late in the evening! (By the end of the week our phone bills had probably skyrocketed but we didn’t care because we just wanted to keep talking and talking and talking). December 8th rolled around when Micah, some friends and I decided to go to Chick-fil-A for an evening snack and ended up staying til closing time! Our friends slowly started to leave one by one and then it was just us—so we decided to sit and chat for a while longer because we didn’t want to leave yet. We talked about family, Jesus, work and more then we realized it was time to throw in the towel and head home around midnight. But little did I know, Micah wasn’t done talking and out of nowhere decided that “just friends” needed to change and our conversation from the week before went out the window. He looked me straight in the eyes and said “will you be my girlfriend?” And I was in complete shock because of the week before and responded with “are you serious right now?!? You’re sure? You want me to be your girlfriend?” (for those of you who have made it this far, spoiler alert, I said YES!) and continued to be doubtful until he finally took my hands calmed me down and said “I’m absolutely sure that I want to get to know you more and have you as my girlfriend.” And you know the rest… as they say it’s history.
