Jenna and John’s story begins in downtown Cincinnati. After five years of professional volleyball life in Europe, Jenna had moved home to obtain her MBA at the University of Cincinnati. After touring several apartments, Jenna picked a unit on the 8th floor at The Renaissance Apartments. Little did she know that her future husband happened to live two floors above her! A few chance encounters convinced John he should ask “the girl in the University of Washington gear” out the next time he saw her. Shortly after reaching this conclusion, John was out with friends at a bar in Over the Rhine. While describing this mystery girl, he told his friends he was going to conjure up the courage to ask her out at their next chance encounter. Minutes later, John could not believe his eyes as Jenna walked into the bar with a group of friends. John was on the second level of the bar, which overlooks the first floor - where Jenna was playing host for a going-away party for her friend Morgan. After deliberating whether this was his shot, John decided against interrupting the party and headed home. Two days later, on a Sunday morning, after reading an article on Jurgen Klopp’s transformation of his beloved Liverpool FC, John logged onto a dating app (Coffee Meets Bagel) and he realized that it was her – the mystery girl had a name, and it was Jenna. After messaging back and forth, they decided to meet that night and shared conversation, and a glass of wine (which turned into a bottle of wine) on the rooftop of their apartment building and began their relationship. Nearly a year of laughter, Liverpool, and falling in love later, John and Jenna found themselves on that same rooftop. Only this time, John got down on one knee, told Jenna the past 355 days were better than he knew possible, and that he wanted to spend every day of his life with her. Amidst tears of joy, Jenna and John decided to spend the rest of their lives together.
