Doug and Jenna met on a tennis recruiting visit at Randolph College in early 2013. While they both decided to attend the school and became teammates, it did not take long for Doug and Jenna to start dating in March 2014. From late night cookout runs to running at practice, they dated throughout college and graduated in 2017; Doug with a Bachelor of Arts in Exercise Science and Jenna with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Keeping within their degree paths, Jenna pursued her Masters of Forensic Science at George Mason and would take turns making the hour drive to visit Doug, as he was assistant coaching at the University of Mary Washington for the next four years. 2020 brought new firsts, including moving into an apartment together in Stafford as well as adding a new member to the family - Callie. Jenna continued working in a private lab and Doug worked on completing his Masters in Coaching and Sport Leadership from their alma mater. Taking a chance in May 2021, Jenna and Doug (and Callie) made the move from Virginia to East Tennessee, as Doug was provided an opportunity to become a head coach at Maryville College. On February 26th 2023, during a tennis match against Randolph College, Doug [finally] proposed to Jenna on the same tennis courts that they played on nearly ten years ago.
