Who would have thought online dating would work in Amarillo? Little did we know that the swipe we did would bring us together. We spent 2 weeks messaging each other on Bumble. We learned that we both loved to travel and do things outdoor. David had gone on a ski trip with his friends and then camped in the back country with his cousin at Palo Dura Canyon during that time. He finally told Jenny he wanted to take her out on a date when he was back in town. We met up at Georgia Street Taphouse. David was sitting out on the patio waiting. Jenny has never been to the patio so messaged asking if he could come to the front door to lead her back. He was a gentleman and did. Jenny's first thoughts were "Omg yes I'm not getting catfished! He's cute!" It was a wonderful first date that led to many more like doing Trivia at Six Car Pub. Side note, yes our first date was on Valentine's Day but we treated it as a normal day.
Meet Dug and Theo! Theo is our small 14 lb doodle and Dug is our 35 lb doodle. The search for our dogs all began with looking for a golden doodle for David's mom. Jenny wanted to help out and began to search the internet and Facebook for puppies. Little did she know Theo would come a long and make her want a puppy too. So there she was driving to Oklahoma City to pick up a 10 week old goldendoodle. Then we found a doodle for David's mom. That's Mia. David soon wanted a doodle of his own living in Tulsa by himself. He searched the inter web and found Dug who was in Dallas.
One month into dating, the COVID pandemic occurred. David and Jenny continued to provide each other company over the phone and outings like to the Palo Dura Canyon with distance. Ten months into dating, David moved to Tulsa to obtain his Master's in Material Science. He remained in Tulsa for two years. The two carried on long distance for that time. There was a lot of face timing/zoom dates and phone calls. Jenny was also able to come visit often.
Jenny thought it was just an evening out to eat dinner with David's sister and brother-in-law in Austin. David took her to the Greenbelt private entrance from his sister's neighborhood around 3pm. He said they had some more work things to complete before they could come over so they were going to do a short hike. Little did Jenny know that dinner at his sisters was a celebration dinner with both immediate families. Dena had flown in before. Danny had driven in from College Station. David ubered Jenny's parents out. Jenny's brother had helped but was out of town going to Cancun.
