Jeni's first memory of Robert is from 6th grade, when in the middle of a silent class, he blurted out, "What the heck? My mom packed me a rubber chicken for lunch!" Jeni thought Robert was weird. Turns out, she was right (and she liked his kind of weird.) They became fast friends, sharing inside jokes and secret crushes on each other. But aside from attending a high school dance together, they never dated. Then fate reunited them in 2018, when Jeni was visiting her mom in Georgia, and Robert was helping his abuelita do her taxes down the road. It was game over from there. First, Robert said "I love you." Then, "Will you move to Thailand with me?" And finally, "Will you be my girlfriend?" Jeni and Robert spent 2018-2020 traveling and teaching abroad in Thailand, Bulgaria, and loads of countries in between. They settled down in Denver, Colorado in 2020 and have a two year-old rescue pup named Junie. They now put a rubber chicken on top of their Christmas tree every year.
