Celebrate with Us!

Our story started in the good ol' hallways of Willowbrook HS. As a freshman, some guy quickly caught my eye. He was a sophomore, in a wheelchair with a broken leg with a mustache. To this day, I swear he was staring at me. Nick denies that part every time. ;) It wasn’t until summer that I started hanging out with Nick and some of his friends. After a fun summer, he asked me to be his date to Homecoming. There's a long story that goes along with that night, but in a nut shell, he was a pure gentleman. From there, Nick and I just remained friends. He was even willing to by my escort to the Lilac Ball when I became a Lombard Lilac Princess (check out the pics page!) After high school, we both went our separate ways. We both married other people. We both divorced those people. We both learned what we wanted in a partner. Fast forward 18 years, yep! I found out through a mutual friend that Nick was divorced and very single. So, the only mature thing to do would be to take it to social media. No luck since Nick isn't on social media. So naturally I needed another option, email. I reached out to him at school asking to grab a beer. No response. So I sent another --this time without the word beer, success! Nick responded and we exchanged numbers. We started to talk more frequently, making plans to hang out, and after weeks of waiting (and almost giving up), he met me up at a local bar. We spent hours talking and catching up. It was certainly a memorable night -- the night before many establishments were shut down due to COVID-19. Our first year of dating was definitely an experience. We had a global pandemic and many instances of quarantining for the safety of our families. What I thought would have been a hard year turned out to be the best year of my life. We fell in love. We started to become a family. While up four-wheeling in Hatfield, Nick insisted we pull over and got down on one knee and popped the question. Obviously, I said yes :)
