After ten years of living in Connecticut, Jen decided to move back to the Boston area, and it turned out to be the best decision she ever made. Right before the world got flipped upside-down, she was able to move into a new, cozy, studio apartment in Medford and began searching for jobs as a Nurse Practitioner. Little did she know, she moved 20 minutes away from her soon-to-be husband. Matt moved from Middleboro to Woburn in 2019; making his commute to Newton a little more reasonable. He had tried various dating apps on and off in search for love, but had very little luck finding the connection he was looking for. With the pandemic in full swing and being forced to quarantine, he decided to give Hinge one more shot. Luckily for him, Jen, too, was encouraged by her friend to download Hinge. With very little activity happening in the world, there was not much to lose and a whole lot to gain. Never once participating in online dating apps, Jen quickly realized how overwhelming it was! After being on the app for nearly two days, and receiving many matches, Jen met Matt. With low expectations and hopes for online dating, Matt seemed nice and normal enough and Jen said yes to a date at Tuscan Kitchen. Matt must have done something right, because Jen decided to delete the app the next week, and the rest is history!
When Matt heard about a friends and family trip to New Hampshire planned for the weekend of August 14, he knew this would be the perfect opportunity for a proposal. Not to mention, this was the one year mark since their first date. Lake-front views, a day on the boat, surrounded by friends and family, what more could you ask for? After a very memorable day on Lake Winnesqaum, everyone returned to the house to get ready for a barbecue. Matt decided it was time, and he would bring Jen down to the dock to propose with beautiful waterfront views with everyone patiently waiting with champagne. Unfortunately, Jen and boats don't mix well and she felt seasick upon return and had to lay down. After some time had passed, and not knowing Matt was pacing around downstairs, she finally felt well enough to rejoin the group. Matt tried his best to lure her down to the lake, yet just the sight of water made her queasy. Frantically he thought, the driveway will have to do! The moment Matt started his speech and got down on one knee, Jen forgot about feeling ill and excitedly said YES!
