Grand Ole Creamery & Grand Pizza
This is one of our favorite ice cream places! They make homemade waffle cones - you can smell them down the street.
Como Park Zoo & Conservatory (FREE)
FREE entrance to both the zoo and conservatory. Zoo has great giraffe and polar bear enclosures. The conservatory is absolutely gorgeous and filled to the brim with too many flowers and plants to count. A great kids activity!
Harriet Island Park
Scenic riverside park with playground for the kiddos. Great place for a nice walk. One lap around is about 2/3 of a mile. It's also connected to Raspberry Island, which is also very pretty and has a cute bandshell.
Revival
Our most favorite restaurant in the Twin Cities. THE BEST southern comfort food. We recommend the fried chicken, smoked pastrami, drop biscuits and any pie they're serving. The pies usually aren't on the menu, but servers will mention them after you're done with your meal. They typically have two different kinds.
West 7th Avenue
LOTS of great restaurants on this strip including... -Food Truck Park (collection of food truck stands, often live music) -Cossetta's (great Italian food, great family atmosphere) -Burger Moe's (AMAZING shakes and burgers)
Science Museum of Minnesota
Lots of fun activities for the young, middle-aged and young at heart. It'd be easy to spend a couple of hours here.
Minnesota Children's Museum
We've never been here, but we've heard nothing but good things about the museum. There are indoor and outdoor exhibits and play areas.
Lake Bde Maka Ska
Go kayaking, canoeing, paddleboarding - whatever your heart desires - on this beautiful lake that's connected to other lake via small channels. Or just go for a walk around the lake (about 3 miles all the way around). You'll get beautiful views of the Minneapolis skyline regardless of how you enjoy the lake,
Minneapolis Sculpture Garden (FREE)
Another freebie that we love :) See the famous cherry spoon sculpture as well as other lesser-known works of art.
Mall of America
So. Many. Stores. And also Nickelodeon Universe for the kiddos.
