We met during our freshman year of college at the University of St. Thomas through swimming. We were on the same scavenger hunt team, running around campus like hooligans in our Green Lantern (Max) and Panther (Jen) costumes. We started dating our sophomore year of college, after Max drove all the way down to Iowa for a swim meet, after which we got ice cream with some of his teammates and walked around downtown Iowa City. We also went ice skating where Jen, graceful as always, got up close and personal with the ice. There was blood. Max was the perfect first responder. The rest is history.
It was a cloudy, rainy day in Interlaken, Switzerland. The forecast showed a 90% chance of thunderstorms every hour for the entire day. We had both resigned ourselves to the fact the wedding would likely need to be an indoor affair. But just as we were putting the finishing touches on our outfits, the rain lightened up. And then stopped completely. So we literally ran (yes, ran) outside with the photographers to take as many photos as possible before the rain picked back up. Yet, it never did. We went up into the mountains and wandered around the castle taking photos all afternoon, and not a single rain drop fell. Even the ceremony ended up being a bright, sunny affair. A pair of ducks came to wish us well (we've been assured by our photographers that they got some great shots of these two) and seagulls were cheering us on from atop the castle as Griffin officiated an equally funny and romantic ceremony. Just after we said "I do," the sky started to darken. Clouds began to crowd the sky, grey and heavy with rain. The weather radar didn't look promising.
