Downtown Petoskey is definitely a must see. The quaint town overlooks beautiful Little Traverse Bay. City Park Grill is full of history, centrally located to many cute shops and bars, and was an old haunt of Hemingway.
Barrel Back is a brewery and restaurant located on beautiful Walloon Lake. Walloon is crystal clear, and perfect for swimming, so bring a bathing suit. After a dip, enjoy lunch, dinner or a delicious craft beer.
We invite our guests to join us the day after the ceremony on a day trip to Mackinac Island. The island is a trip back in time. There are no cars allowed and it must be reached by ferry. Once on the island, visitors can enjoy the world famous fudge, rum runners and a tour of the historic Grand Hotel.
Classic breakfast, damn fine cherry pie.
Ranked among the most scenic roads in the nation. M-119 begins at the north end of Petoskey, but it doesn’t officially become The Tunnel of Trees until north of Harbor Springs. From there, the state highway becomes very narrow, running 20 miles along a spectacular bluff overlooking Lake Michigan. Watch for especially sharp twists at Devil’s Elbow and Horseshoe Curve. Along the way, you’ll find fun shops, must-try local restaurants, spectacular scenery and fascinating historical pit spots. Stop for lunch at historic landmark Legs Inn, family owned for nearly 100 years.
