We had planned to embark on an other-worldly adventure to Iceland to elope on the first day of spring on March 19, 2020. After a civil marriage ceremony in Reykjavik, we would have continued on to the rest of Iceland, London, Amsterdam, and Paris. We made the decision to postpone our trip until it's safe again to travel. In light of our current situation, we decided it was still important to get married to each other. We had everything we needed: each other, rings, costumes, a friend who agreed to get ordained moments before, and even a bottle of champagne. So while sheltering-in-place in our apartment on the first day of spring, we exchanged vows and performed a small ceremony, followed by lots of dancing. Our close friend who is a journalist wrote about it here: https://qz.com/1822814/when-your-friends-marry-on-zoom-because-of-a-coronavirus-pandemic/
We hope to celebrate with everyone soon! We have decided to postpone our party picnic in Oakland. Your health and safety is our top priority. We can party later! Sending love to you all!
