If you have time, you might be interested in visiting the Winnipeg Art Gallery with the new Qaumajuq museum, which is home of the largest public collection of contemporary Inuit art in the world and is housed in a newly opened addition to the original (and very beautiful) Gustavo da Roza art gallery building. Qaumajuq is the name that Indigenous language keepers gave to the Inuit art centre. Inspired by the light-filled spaces of the new building, Qaumajuq (pronounced KOW-ma-yourk and sometimes heard HOW-ma-yourk) means “it is bright, it is lit” in Inuktitut.
