Jeff stayed true to form and woke Leila up at 4am to go for a hike at Bernardo Mountain Summit. Leila stayed true to form and didn't want to wake up at 4am on a Saturday. They compromised with promises of Starbucks and an afternoon at the beach. During the hike up, Jeff used his Marine Corps-honed talent of hiking at an ungodly speed to get Leila up the mountain in time for sunrise, forgetting that Leila does NOT hike for a living like he does. Leila continuously reminded Jeff that the hike is about the journey, not the destination. In the end, we made it up the mountain for sunrise where Jeff proved to Leila that sometimes, the hike IS about the destination. Turns out, some things are worth waking up before the sunrise for.
